your daily dose of cute

Walter Linus Wilder has lived with me for 1 month now.  I love him!
This morning I awoke with Linus purring and his head in my mouth.  I guess he was trying to tell me to get up and feed him.

back from Reno

The conference was good and the scenery was beautiful.  I wish I had more time to see the sights.  The only time I was able to get out-and-about was Wednesday morning.  I went to the National Automobile Museum.  It was terrific.  I would highly recommend it if you are in Reno and love cars.  There was one display from the 50s with this picture.  I don't know what that has to do with automobiles - but I loved it weirdness....

where have I been?

This summer's been full of lots of ups and downs.  It seems to be leveling out though.  I did get a part time teaching job at the local vet tech program.  Yippie.  I have the seconds year students for 6 hours every Tues.  Phew!! I didn't know I could talk that long.  2 weeks into class and no ones mutinied.  I suppose that's a good thing.

Real work is the same.  I am currently trying to avoid completing the billing invoices for last month.  Since there are no appointments I have to find a different way of avoiding the accounting.

So what's in store for your holiday weekend?  I think I'm going to head to a local winery.  Drink!

Happy Labor Day weekend!

Inland Hurricanes suck.

I'd never even heard of an inland hurricane.  Well unfortunately I know all about them now.  106mph winds overtake pine trees really well.  I drove through one town today and the pine tree was completely torn from the ground taking out the sidewalk, 2 houses, garage and power line.  We are all doing well, despite no power for 5 days and expected another 5 before I'm up and normal.  Thank God for good neighbors and my BFF who lives 1hr away.  I can shower, do laundry, and watch TV at her house.  Yippie.

this was our work parking lot.  If you can't tell there are 2 cars hiding beneath that pine and polar tree.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  He was an amazing furryball.  I loved him dearly and will miss having him nose through my bag when I visit.

Hope you had a happy 100th episode Lost Day!!

Our litte group of Losties got together at the office and watched the 100th episode last night.   Everyone got a little crochet Dharma '15' bunny.  Aren't they sweet?

Wonderful time at the Inauguation and we even got home in time for LOST.

It was really cold in Washington D.C. this past week, but all the good will in the city warmed our hearts.  It seems like we stood forever between seeing the concert on Sunday and standing near the Washington Monument (after hiking about 18 blocks) on Tuesday with 2 million of our new friends.   The Inauguration was tremendous.  I hope you know someone who went so they can share it with you.  I am usually never at a loss for words, but I must say being amongst that group of people for such an important day stll leaves me without the adequate words.  Peace, love, and hope for a better tomorrow!!!

Jade, Abby, & Vicky huddle together while we wait to cross the street to go find our bus.

Bec & I can't seem to find enough clothing to keep out the cold.

Bec poses with the giant screen as it is being turned in preparation for the "big day".
Frozen Potomac and Jefferson Memorial.  It was a really beautiful site.
(big thanks to  my lil'bro for the use of his camera)

Time to open your new calendars

It is the best feeling to hang up those new calendars.  Theres no mistakes or scribbles everywhere.  Hope your New Year is full of only the best things.

I will be spending my night on call and staying in the office until the end of the year accounting shit is done.  Oh the joys of being a semi-office manager/ professional/ supervisor/ shit taker.

all my love to you and yours.

freaky santa and frosty

If you are looking for a creepy last minute gift; try this St. Nick & Frosty figurine from sundancejewelry.com.  It says the artist was inspired by victorian and vintage toys.  Looks a little like Nightmare Before Christmas to me.  Check out Santa's nuts!  I do like this werid figure but it is too expence and with 4 cats I'm sure it would break pretty.

touch your face cute Christmas

Pet Pictures with Santa was successful.  Not as many critters as last year.  Atleast the 4 legged children were all well behaved and we still raised some money for the Women's Center.
With the economy being so tough one woman brought her human son.  He cried and screamed except when we squeaked the squeaky toy at him.
Here is Santa Travis with Cedric.

What a great way to start a New Year.

The trip to Washington DC is quickly approaching.  The plane tickets are arriving soon and we'll be leaving St. Louis at 6:50am on Sunday.  Whoo Hoo.  That's an early wake up for me.  But it's so worth it to be at the Inauguration.

dr who daleks in london

Wow, it's December. Where has the time gone?

Don't I know you from somewhere?
I apologize for my absence.  No excuse.  Work alot, tired alot and just don't find spare time to log on at home.  (Dial up sucks.)  All is well.  I've been knitting (as you would have imagined).
I did finish my Mother's triangle shawl for her birthday.  She was so cute when I called her to see if she'd received it.  It seems she loved it but thought she'd use it as a window dressing instead of an article of clothing.  Since there was only 1shawl and she has 7 windows in her sunroom, I really don't know how that is gonna look.  I'm sure not gonna make her 6 more so she can 'bring the room together'.

It did turn out nice.  This is made out of the fiber I bought from galileah_galileShe did good, don't you think?

yes we can - Obama in St. Louis

(pic from Assoc press)
It was truly a beautiful and amazing day.  So if you look way back in the upper left corner (where the American Flag is), beccavox and I were about 10feet back.  The crowd stretch about 50feet farther back.  They say there were over 100,000 people.  People of every race, age, and economic status stood (crammed) side by side hoping for a better future.  VOTE VOTE VOTE - vote early if you can!

After the crowd thinned we walked up just past the flag.  Here is the view we could have had...

Fall is my favorite season.  Everything here in SoIL is still hot, humid, dry, and green.  Well except for one tree who could not contain himself any longer.   A little premature....but Fall is coming.

JJ Abrams should do more tv shows.

Fringe aired tonight on FOX.  It was pretty good.  Especially if you like FBI meets scifi (ie remember the X files).
If you missed it, it will be shown again Sunday night.
Remind me not to get onto a plane with JJ.

1 near drowing and 2 vomiting w/ blood diarrhea

Oh yeah!  What an exciting weekend.  So what's worse than being on call 1 full day of the weekend... taking call for 2 days.  My poor co-doctor is so ill she gave up trying to convince me she was well enough to work. Here I sit  (for the 2nd day) spinning yarn, watching netflix instant movies and cleaning up explosive, projectile emissions from two patients.   I know you want to be me.
